PRAIA A MARE
ROOTS & RETURNS
Between the sea and the memories of the South, a home opens its doors once more.
More than a stay. A way of belonging to a place.
Casa Madrigale was born above one of the most lived-in places in Praia a Mare. First a family home, then a place of gatherings, music, shared tables and summer nights, today it becomes an intimate retreat where time slows down and hospitality recovers the taste of authentic things. Every detail holds a story of departures, returns and deep ties to this land.

Walls that speak of family
Long before the restaurant, there was a house here. A house built in the early 1900s with money sent from America: a symbol of sacrifice, hope and return.
Within these walls generations grew up, lives intertwined, families waited for children to return from the sea or from afar. Then, in the 1980s, the place changed shape without losing its soul. Il Madrigale was born: a place to linger for hours, to share tapas, listen to live music, play and be together.
Over the years Il Madrigale became a landmark for Praia a Mare. A place crossed by stories, friendships, endless summers and many generations.
Today that story continues in a new form. Casa Madrigale was born to safeguard everything this place has always been: welcome, memory and life.
Living the South
Casa Madrigale springs from the idea of bringing quiet luxury back to the centre — made of authentic materials, warm atmospheres and rediscovered time. The house keeps its Mediterranean roots: tactile textures, the soft light of the houses of the South. The contemporary meets tradition without erasing it.

“Nothing is ostentatious. Everything is designed to convey comfort, intimacy and natural beauty.”
— Our philosophy
Hospitality begins at the table
The kitchen of Casa Madrigale is born of conviviality: of the slow pleasure of sitting at the table, of sharing, of feeling like a guest rather than a customer. Mediterranean flavours, local produce and honest cooking accompany the experience of the house, following the rhythm of the seasons and of local tradition.
At the table
- Pizzas and focaccia
- Boards of cured meats and local cheeses, with honey and local preserves
- First courses with the flavours of tradition
- House main courses
- A selection of Calabrian and Lucanian wines

Every room is a quiet tale
The names and colours echo the family's places, journeys and origins: the blue of the sea, the green of the Mediterranean scrub, the warm earth of the South.
